Also called EASTERN ARBORVITAE and NORTHERN WHITE-CEDAR
It is native to southeastern Canada and northeastern U. S. Arborvitae is the Latin translation of the French, “l’arbre de vie” or “tree of life.” An evergreen that displays its rich green foliage well into the winter months. The flat foliage of small and scale-like leaves are packed closely together in overlapping rows giving branches the appearance of flattened, fan-like sprays. Cones are tiny, light brown, or reddish, about 1/3 to 1/2” long and blunt tipped. Seeds are released in autumn, but the cones persist through winter. It is a favorite source of nutritious winter food for whitetail deer. A spectacular trunk and roots for bonsai.
This is a "pre-bonsai" tree that is in preparation for bonsai. It is in a nursery growing pot instead of a traditional bonsai pot.
